Recipients named in four categories for the UMOS Hispanic of the Year annual banquet awards.

Milwaukee, WI - On Friday, the United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) released the names of this year's award recipients in four categories to be honored at the Hispanic of the Year annual awards banquet. The first recipient for Hispanic Woman of the Year is María Castrejon-Pérez, a LULAC Midwest Assistance and Programs Coordinator and a UMOS volunteer for the September 15th parade and festival; Ruben A. Burgos, a retired (April 2013) Milwaukee Police Lieutenant of Detectives, former President of the Latino Peace Officer Association and a current Board member for the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (Mexican Fiesta) was selected as the Hispanic Man of the Year; Mayra Alaniz is this year's Hispanic Youth of Year and the Jimmy and Elena Castañeda family were picked as the Hispanic Family of the Year.
The recipients were chosen in four categories whose names were submitted by those nominating them to be recognized for their achievements and contributions to Wisconsin's Hispanic community. They will be honored at the annual UMOS Hispanic awards banquet on October 12.
