Bloomington, MN - The hero robot standing on top of the LEGO store at the Mall of America (MOA) was created from 2.8 million LEGO pieces, weighting 9 tons of LEGO and has 2 tons of rebar structure to hold it from swaying, according to Jean Mlynczak from the LEGO store.
The robot stands on top of the LEGO roof and stands at least 11 meters or 34 feet tall.
In 2010, the robot structure was put up after the 20th Anniversary of the MOA. As people pay for their LEGO purchases at the cashier lane inside the store, very few customers noticed that they are under an 11 ton LEGO robot stationed on covered I-beams.
It's amazing, the I-beams can support that much weight.
