Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, several men got into a brawl with some construction workers around 10:40 p.m. after one stepped on an open man hole at the 2400 block of S. 14th St. The man hole is wide and about 30 feet deep.
According to one of the construction workers who are rebuilding the sidewalks and street from W. Lincoln Ave. to W. Harrison Ave. on S. 14 St. says, that he noticed two men walking South on the West sidewalk. They stopped at the 2400 block of the street and sat there for about 20 minutes on the steps of a home near the open man hole.
The construction workers were just down the street when the men came over and complained that one of them had step on the open man hole and had been injured. They were told to called the company to complain. The men left for 10 minutes according to another worker.
Then the men returned and began to argue with one of the construction workers. The argument escalated to a fist and kicking match. A worker was kicked in the face and punched. The men left after police were called.
Some of the construction workers had told the men that they could file a complaint with Lalonde Construction Inc., but the encounter escalated to a brawl.
Apparently, one of the man showed an injury to his face, according to several workers. None of the workers witnessed the man step into the man hole. The workers had tape off the street after fresh concrete was poured earlier and the man holes were left open because the actual covers are to heavy and could damage the wet concrete setting.
