Officer stole thousands to pay for his personal vehicle's gas.

Round Lake Beach, Illinois - Kenneth Rydz Jr., 41, a Round Lake Beach Police Officer has been charged with 7 felony counts of theft, including two enhance and 5 felony counts of official misconduct in connection with the theft of $3,700 that was used to pay for gasoline, the criminal complaint states. Rydz Jr. turned himself in on Tuesday to the Lake County Sheriff's Office and released on a personal recognizance bond of $50,000, according to David D. Hare, Chief of Police at the Round Lake Beach Police Department.
An audit by the department found that between February 10 and March 23, Officer Rydz Jr. made unauthorized expenditures from the Round Lake Beach Police Department (RLBPD) account and the Lake County Attorney's Office was notified.

Rydz Jr. used the department's gas account to personally fuel his own vehicle. Rydz Jr. was hired by the department in 1997. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case, Chief Hare stated.
