Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, life supports for Donald Lee Dutch, 42, aka, "Casper" were pulled just days after being critically injured in a motorcycle and vehicle involved accident on Sunday afternoon at the northbound 16th Street Viaduct and W. Clybourn Street. Dutch suffered brain trauma and cerebral hemorrhaging. He had been in coma since Sunday and it was later determined that he was brain-dead, according to family members. Dutch passed away peacefully at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. Family, relatives and friends were allowed to say farewell to Dutch on Wednesday. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
A fundraiser for Dutch was held at a Southside local bar at the 3500 block of W. National Ave. on Wednesday. Dutch was a former chapter president of the Mixtecas Milwaukee Motorcycle Club. He is survived by family, relatives, five children and a girlfriend.
Casper on Sunday was heading northbound on the S. 16th Street Viaduct when a male driver around 5:30 p.m. who was driving westbound on W. Clybourn Street struck Casper. According to a video camera surveillance footage, Casper attempted to beat the changing green light and was speeding northbound when a vehicle going westbound on the just changed green light collided with Casper. A Marquette Public Safety officer was the first one to arrive at the scene.
Lieutenant Mark Stanmeyer, the Milwaukee Police Department Public Relations Supervisor stated, "The crash remains under investigation and no determination on the cause has been made."
In the passing of Casper, James Sehrank, aka, "JJ" one of the co-founders of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Mixtecas stated, "From the beginning Casper was the Sergeant of Arms when we founded the club in 1998 in Milwaukee. He later became Vice-President and went on to become President of the motorcycle club for almost four years. He was also the Ambassador working as public relations with clubs. Casper was a diamond patch holder, who was responsible for the Milwaukee Mixtecas to receive the diamond patch. The patch holder is a member of good standing with the club. His famous quote "TCB" (Taking Care of Business). Milwaukee Mixtecas are considered brothers of the D.C. Eagles and Hells Lover. May he RIP for Ever."
In 1997, Casper joined the Milwaukee Latin American Motorcycle Association (LAMA) and became a full colors wearing member, according to Eduardo Velez, the former and first president of the Milwaukee LAMA chapter. Velez sent his condolences to his family.
Then, Casper in 1998 broke away from LAMA along with Juan Rivera and Eddie Alva who were also members of LAMA. Alva, as president and Casper as Sargeant of Arms started the first Mixtecas chapter in Milwaukee. Juan Rivera shortly afterwards began a Mixtecas Waukesha chapter. He now lives in Guanajuato, Mexico.
Daniel "Danny" Garcia, who also was one of the co-founders for the Mixtecas in Milwaukee and a former LAMA member later established the Mixtecas Wisconsin. Today, Garcia is one of two that are privileged Mixtecas members for serving more than 17-years in the motorcycle club. All Mixtecas must wear their club colors when riding a motorcycle and Garcia is one of few in Wisconsin that is exempt from that mandatory rule. The current Mixtecas Milwaukee chapter president is Richard Alva. Alva was another co-founder of the Milwaukee Mixtecas, he served as a Treasurer when the group started in 1998, according to Eddie Alva.
Velez also decided to break away from LAMA and went on to establish the Independent Riders of Milwaukee, a motorcycle riding group along with Joselito Velez and H. Nelson Goodson, also former LAMA members. Goodson became the first Milwaukee LAMA member to break away from the Chicago based LAMA group. Goodson, aka, "El JR" along with the late Carlos Medina, aka, "Two Tone" who also broke away from LAMA then began the Hispanic Knights of Milwaukee Motorcycle Club and later became the Hispanic Warriors MC. Goodson later left the Hispanic Warriors and joined the Velez brothers to establish the Independent Riders of Milwaukee in 1998.
Since then, the Independent Riders group had spread to Tallahassee and Orlando, Florida. Other riding groups throughout the U.S. have also been established using the Independent Riders name known for motorcycle enthusiasts riding free with no boundaries and not affiliated with motorcycle clubs or 1%'s. To become a motorcycle club wearing colors, prospective clubs would have to get approved by the Afro-American Motorcycle Club (MC) the Hell's Lovers or the Milwaukee Outlaws MC. Riding motorcycle enthusiasts wearing unique colors and are not MC's don't need to be approved to wear their colors. Many riding groups are welcome to participate at MC local events.
