Moscow Times: Putin Gives Egypt's Fattah al-Sisi 'Glorious' Kalashnikov AK-47
Russia's Vladimir Putin presented Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi with an authentic Russian-made Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifle while visiting the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Tuesday.
"President Putin presented President Sisi with a glorious gift — a Kalashnikov. Undoubtedly very symbolic," Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt wrote on his Twitter page, and included a photo of the exchange.
WNU Editor: This two day visit has been a surprising success. Aside from the nuclear deal and laying the groundwork for future arm sales .... the big part of this visit was also reviving strategic ties, especially on issues of security. Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi is an avid gun collector .... I am 100% sure that he is going to prize this gift from Putin.
