Former Chicago Cop Drew Peterson Charged With Murder For Hire Solicitation

Peterson wanted to hire a hit man to kill the prosecutor who convicted him for murder in Illinois.

Chicago, Illinois - On Monday, Drew Peterson, 61, a former Chicago Police Sargeant convicted in 2012 for killing his third wife was charged with two felony counts for solicitation to hire a hit man and solicitation for murder to kill Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow, Illinois State Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced. Peterson is serving 38-years in prison for killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio and had been under investigation for trying to get a hit man to kill the prosecutor who put him in prison.

From September 2013 to December 2014, Peterson contacted an individual who he wanted to hired to kill Glasgow. The Randolph County District Attorney's Office will prosecute the Peterson's murder for hire hit man case.

Peterson is expected back in court on March 3 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, Peterson is facing an additional 70-years in prison.

Peterson is currently serving his 38-year sentence for Savio's murder at the Menard Correction Center in Randolph County. He will be eligible for parole at the age of 93 on the murder conviction.

Peterson is suspected for killing his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. She went missing in 2007 and was never found. That disappearance led to an investigation of the bathtub accidental drowning death of Savio, which it later turned out that Savio was murdered by Peterson during a bitter divorce legal battle.
